These figures are a guide. Revenue excludes VAT (the VAT you charge isn't your income). Your actual income tax depends on your region, your deductions and your personal situation.
Why what you invoice isn't what you earn
If you invoice €2,000/month, that isn't what ends up in your pocket. From it you have to subtract your business expenses, your social security contribution and quarterly income tax. What you actually keep can be 35–50% less than what you invoice.
Your social security contribution is the most predictable cost: between €200 and €590/month depending on your net income. Income tax varies with your taxable base, your family situation and your region.
The calculator does the maths for you: it gives you the gross revenue (excluding VAT) you need in order to keep what you want, taking the combined effect of all the taxes into account.
The VAT you charge on your invoices doesn't count as income: you collect it and hand it over to the Spanish Tax Agency on the quarterly form 303.
